Welcome to the website for the Review of the Conditions of Detention, Management and Oversight of Prisons. This Review began on 21 July 2010 and is to report to the Minister of Justice by early 2011.

This site aims to provide general information about the work of the Prison Review Team and to provide details on the progress of the Review. The task of the Prison Review Team is to conduct a rolling review, in line with the agreement at Hillsborough Castle of 5 February 2010, encompassing the conditions of detention, management and oversight of all prisons. The review will consist of several stages starting with a review of the regime at Maghaberry Prison. Second, the review will cover the remaining matters identified in the Hillsborough Agreement, building on the work achieved in the first stage.
